I get so many gifts from students this time of the year. I think the one that sticks out in my mind is when I had a mom (also a teacher) who got me a basket with some tea, bubble bath, and a giftcard for the local bookstore. I still remember that as on of my favorite gifts!
ReplyDeleteThe first Chrstmas that Adam was in the army, he had a star named after me through the International Star Registry. In the card, he wrote that even though we were miles and miles apart, if I looked up at the sky, I'd know that he was looking up at it and thinking of me. He was only 17, and this was before the movie "A Walk to Remember" so I totally give him originality points =) Almost 10 years later, the framed certificate is hanging up in our room. I still look at it when he's out patroling at night, and it's comforting.
ReplyDeleteOne of the BEST gifts my hubby ever got me was not diamonds or other bauble, but a commercial laser printer so I can make all my cards and invitations. LOVE it and use it almost daily. I've had it for years! :0)
ReplyDeleteMy mom always finds creative ideas for gifts. Growing up in NC, we were really close to a great zoo. One year the zoo got really good at recycling and took Rhino poop, let it harden and then shape it into small animals that you could put it in your garden. As it rained, the poop would soften and fertilize your plants. I thought that was awesome! My mom gave it to a ton of our friends & family.
