This card is especially dear to me because my family has our own stocking tradition. We used to have beautiful felt stockings that my dad made one year when we were little. But that was about 28 years ago, and... well... they were made out of felt. So we still have those, but we now use some lovely (and durable) stockings from the good people at Land's End. :)
Our stockings have always been the first thing to be opened on Christmas morning. The way it usually worked was that my parents always wanted to make coffee before we started opening gifts, but we couldn't wait that long! So they would tell us that we could dump out our stockings on the dining room table and open the mini gifts inside (*ahem* and eat the chocolate) while they made their coffee, then they would join us in the living room for present-opening. It was just enough to keep us happy while we waited!
